Visiting Hard Rock Cafe Singapore and Newton Food Court.

Lee Chuan has come to Singapore again! His purpose is ... ... (you better ask him yourself).

This is the first time I visit Hard Rock and the famous - Newton food court, I should have thanks to Lock for the suggestions and bringing us to there.

Hard Rock Cafe in Singapore is not much different from Malaysia, just the table cloth is in blue color. The band is not bad, the singer voice is good, and he played me the song - Stairway to Heaven. That I love it so much >.<
Again, KY said "must take photos for memories."

After having a bottle of Carbenet California 2004 - Red Wine. We walk along the Orchard road. Is kind of a different while you walk at the night time, without the crowd, without the hot sun, without the display, and yes - is NICE.

Then we took a cab to Newton food court and had our supper there. Though of what so special there, but is all grilled sting ray! Some more not cheap and delicious. *duh*, I wouldn't suggest foreigner to that place. Just a "C" from me to it.

p/s: We had katong laksa for dinner. ^.^

When it comes to NAMES

I'm sure most of you have gone through this - a funny or weird name created by your friends. Then your friends will use it to make fun with you or call you the given name for the whole life.

Perhaps, there is nothing to angry about, maybe sometimes you'll think it is something unique call from someone special. ;)

Well, I got a lot of funny names given by a lot of different people, from my primary until now. As my name is Phaik Gaik, and here is some of the nick names that had/have been calling until now:

Pak Kap (Pigeon in cantonese)
Pokok (Tree in Malay)
Big cat
Big gate
Aik aik

and recently
Fly kite (?)

Or maybe I should say luckily I don't have a christian name, cause my mom always will create some really ugly name for them. And she said:

"When your surname is Beh (horse in chinese), you can never call yourself Nina. Because it will become 'Nina Beh' (in hokkien)."

"When your surname is Kok, cannot call Harry. Cause it will become 'Harry Kok'."

"When your surname is Teoh, you cam never call Lawrence, and it will becomes 'Lawrence Teoh' (in Cantonese)."

"And the worst surname is Koo, then you never never call yourself Morlyn, Doreen or Darien!

But for me, the champion name that no one can imagine will be

'Matthew Yong'

In cantonese: Ma = Horse; Yong = Sheep

If still don't know, don't hesitate to drop me a message!
* wink ;)

Another Friday @ St James Power Station

Went to St James with some of my friends last night. I have no idea why it call St James Power station as the name is too good kind of like church name for a sinful heaven. Lol. It’s located at Harbour Front, just opposite of Vivo city, before the island of Sentosa.

St James Power station has, I think 8 clubs under the same roof. Heard my friend said the boss is the owner of Devil’s Bar last time. I think he is too rich and too smart to have it’s own 8clubs in a row, while different people with different style can choose from the varieties from music to interior and to style; and he still earns them all. ;)

We were at one of the clubs name Powerhouse, the music is not that great compare to Zouk and MOS but the crowd has win them! No place for dance nor walk, I just sit still and enjoy my alcohol. And finally, peeka get to try the beer tower, and not just 1 but 2.

As usual, KY wanted to take photos of St James, he said this is important so that he can have memories for here in Singapore. I just bring him around and showing him all the clubs and not to forget to take a lot of images.

Well I just let my images to talk. And here is some of my friends were with me last night.

By the way, Rob, will wait for you to come here to go to The Gallery at St James. ;)

3rd week of August

I heard they said every year after 1 week of Singapore's National day will have the fireworks competition. So Zisian and me decided to head down to City Hall (Esplanade) to watch the fireworks. Before going there, I need to go Orchard to find my toy, but I don't manage to find it, so we just had our dinner at Yoshinoya there.

As expected, a lot of people there. The exit to the esplanade is close for tickets holder only. So we use another way round to the opposite side, and yet, the crowd is still the same. Zisian and I, find a nice place, prepared the camera for the coming fireworks.

Here is the short video for the fireworks that night.

After that, we knew that MRT will be darn lot of people, so I suggested to walk to Clarke Quay (Zisian never been there before). To show that I don't wanna waste using my Cannery card, I persuade Zisian to have a drink at one of the Bar there, and we ended up at Barfly. And Seen join us later that night, and follow by Siew Wan and her bf.

Then cause of some reason, we went to Velvet at Zouk but Zisian not joining us. ..

Well, nothing much to post, will update you guys for the fireworks I saw last night.

My camper van

I just got my last year Christmas present last week, my youngest aunty had bought it for me; someone who is from America, went to England and bought a 'Made in China' present for me. Strange huh*

15 pound, and it's so expensive!

Love this little van since I know 'him', really wish that one day I can own one and modify it with a disco ball inside, then travel around the Malaysia + Singapore + Thailand (Peeka's day dreaming). So if anyone knows anyone who want to sell this WV van, please inform me.

Well, I brought the toy back to Singapore and fix it together with my bro - George.
And finally...

Registrar of my sister (Elsa)’s wedding - Pt3

Today is the big day. Someday for my sister to remember every year, to celebrate every anniversary. Today is my sister’s wedding day. Maybe she is to excited to become Mrs Beh so she woke up very early in the morning.

After breakfast, went to play some arcades and pool… I never knew my sis - the 1st time player - can play so well instead. Anyway, it is like her last teenage time that day, so we play till the fun. Then we got back to get ready ourselves, bath, dress up, makeup… … rush here and there, they forget to bring along the wedding ring, last minute to change the shoe, hair stills wet and a lot a lot of unexpected unprepared.

Anyhow we need to rush to City Hall for the register, guess what, the bride is driving us, and others took cab. The whole process is short, when into the registry office less than 5 minutes, and yes, they are married! After that, we try to save some time for some photo shooting session.

Back to the resort, while the buffet people came and do the preparation set up. And slowly the guest come in 1 by 1 to celebrates and congratulates to my sister and his husband. With the very simple yet satisfying registrar’s day, and her title no more single nor attached.. Is married!

I wonder.. Should I get ang pow from her next year? Lolx.

Registrar of my sister (Elsa)’s wedding - Pt2

Me and my cousin woke up around noon on Sunday 4th August 2007, we took a cab to the Pasir Ris Costa Sand Resort, met for Elsa and checked in for the room. Have a very simple and not delicious fish & chips there meanwhile waiting for the arriving of my parents and grandma. They arrived around evening time with my brother and his gf, and we straight to have our dinner at the walking distance down town east.

My pretties Grandma. She is 74 years old.

After that, we back to the room, and today is the MU vs. Chelsea match, so I brought Yen to the Robertson Quay to watch the football match. Yes, is so far from Pasir Ris to there, and the taxi charges are so expensive especially when we went back after 12am. I called along KY as he is too bored, then after the match we walked around there and to Clarke Quay for some photo shooting. End of day 3.

Is Monday, one more day to my sister’s big day. We checked out from Costa Sand Resort at 10.30am, and checked in at Down Town East Resort at 2.30pm (Actually it is just next to it). Before checking in and after all the luggage moved in and out, we went to Tempanise mall for a walk. Though to take a cab to there, but ended up all 7 of us took bus (a cheap and a convenient one). Had lunch there but they went back to the resort 1st, so just left my cousin and I. Bought a little shoe for her to match for her dress and we - again - took the convenient transport back.

Lunch at Tempanise mall with my family.

Planed to go to wild wild wet, lazy us were sloping but we still get to go to some swimming (I still have 12 tickets for wild wild wet, anyone wanna go?). A sudden plan from my sister to have a BBQ for tonight dinner. It is so convenient at Down Town East, the Cheers (like 7-eleven) there is prepare with all the BBQ equipment and with marinated chicken wing, lamb and steak. Outside of our room got the build in BBQ pit, so it is like so simple and easy to have a BBQ there. Without worrying of preparing and cleaning before or after. Not to forget with the Hoegarden for drinks and the lamb for the meat. Life isn’t that bad. End of day 4.

My father preparing the BBQ.

Registrar of my sister (Elsa)’s wedding - Pt1

Before I start, let’s congratulate for my sister.

It has to start from Friday 3rd August 2007, the day my last day to my 1 week leave, the day the 1st visitor arrived upon – my cousin sister - Yen. After work, I went to Changi airport to welcome her, starbucks’ing with her then bring her back to my place. End of day one.

On the 2nd day, my sis and I brought Yen to Vivo City at the Harbour Front, we had our branch at “Dian Xia Er” which their roasted duck really tasting good. Then we walked around at the mall and bought a little dress for Yen. Busy snapping images from inside to outside of Vivo City. After that we rest and eat ice-cream at Ben&Jerry’s Ice Cream House. The first time I have a 25 dollar cost of ice-cream.

My cousin and I

$25 Ice-cream

Later, we bought the $3 monorail to Sentosa Island. We went there less than 30minutes then came out cause is too hot and we are not wearing the right outfit there. Again, we “snap snap snap” photos.

Sister, cousin sister and I

From Harbour Front we took MRT to City Hall. Usually every Saturday, there will be a rehearsal of National Day outside of Esplanade. And this Saturday, is the full rehearsal, with the military and air force performance, and from far, we can see the floating stage with thousands of people performing and the incredible lightings. We wait and waited for like 2 hours, we were hoping for the fireworks, but ended up nothing perform on the sky. We were hungry, though of eating the Sakae Sushi’s buffet, but too hungry yet too many people queuing, so we went to the opposite Thai Food Restaurant to have our dinner. That’s the end of day two.
